NBA fans got a glimpse into the future with a matchup of young stars between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers. However, it was the magnificent performance of Sixers big man Joel Embiid that highlighted the evening.

Embiid's talent was on full display, as he led Philadelphia to a 115-109 victory over Los Angeles at Staples Center. Nights like these are why forward Robert Covington says there are very few people capable of guarding Embiid, according to ClutchPoints' Bob Garcia.

Covington pointed to Embiid's versatile skill set for a big man as a large part of the reasons why.

“He's 7'3″ 280 (pounds) and can move like a guard and he has some much to his game that's kind of hard to stop him. Very much so. Tonight was a true testament of it. He did everything.”

There is plenty of truth to Covington's comments after Embiid was nothing short of spectacular in pretty much every aspect of the game. The budding superstar finished with a career-high 46 points on an efficient 14-of-20 shooting from the field.

Furthermore, he singlehandedly broke down the Lakers defense in the post by making them pay on double teams with seven assists. If that was not enough, he tacked on 15 rebounds and seven blocks as well.

Needless to say, Embiid's prowess as a big man is going to make him a nightmare matchup for years to come.
