Barcelona has capped off their productive January transfer window with the signing of decorated striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who joined the club on a free transfer after mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with Arsenal.

It was a complicated situation and it looked like he wouldn't be leaving North London as it was initially thought the Gabon international would go on loan to Barca. But, with Aubameyang's lack of involvement with Mikel Arteta's side, they came to an agreement after all.

Following the move, which was officially announced on Wednesday, Aubameyang spoke out on becoming a Barcelona player and helping them get back to playing Champions League football.

“I'm very proud, especially with my family being Spanish on my mother's side.

“I want to give everything I can to get the team into the Champions League. I'm just happy to be here, and I'll try to give everything.”

Aubameyang scored 92 goals in 163 appearances for the Gunners but recently fell out of favor under Arteta. His experience at the top level across Europe should certainly come in handy for a Barcelona side that desperately needs a spark up top.

The Catalans did some fine business this month, also securing a loan move for La Masia graduate Adama Traore while bringing in Ferran Torres from Manchester City as well. However, they're still in significant debt and failed to sell any players. It will be interesting to see how the club can utilize the new talent for the remainder of the LaLiga campaign.
