The Brazilian football federation is laying the hammer down after the Premier League denied players to join the Selecao on international duty
Brazil has used a Fifa rule that will prevent eight England-based stars to play for a total of five days, which is set to affect the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Leeds, Manchester United, and Manchester City.
Roberto Firmino, Ederson, Gabriel Jesus, Fred, Thiago Silva, Fabinho, and Raphinha, among others, won't be able to feature for their Premier League sides over the weekend. Richarlison is the only exception because Everton allowed him to play for Brazil at the Olympics. This is even more concerning for the Blues and Red Devils because Silva and Fred will be unavailable for their first Champions League group stage fixtures on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, Fifa is all for the ban. They plan to use similar action in October and November if teams fail to let their players leave on international duty once again.
This all started due to Premier League outfits denying certain players to travel to the UK's red list countries. That decision left Brazil's squad severely depleted in this set of World Cup Qualifiers, although their most recent encounter with Argentina was suspended anyway after health authorities stormed on the pitch because Lionel Scaloni's side used four players who skipped quarantine after leaving England.
Mexico and Wolves star Raul Jimenez will also be sidelined due to the ban along with Paraguay and Newcastle attacker Miguel Almiron. The Premier League won't be pleased with Fifa's latest move, but unfortunately, it's the reality of the situation.
