With a shortened season in play and most stars resting or recovering in back-to-back scenarios, the option for veterans to earn their stripes again.</p><p>Lance Stephenson has proven himself time and time again to be a capable ball-handler and a player on offense that can get his own shot. He last played in the league for the Los Angeles Lakers as he came off the bench during the 2018-19 season. He averaged 7.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists through 16.5 MPG.</p><p>Lance Stephenson rose to fame during his time with the Indiana Pacers after being tasked with guarding LeBron James in some critical moments during the 2014 Eastern Conference Finals.</p><p>As for Beasley, the former No. 2 pick spent his last season in the league playing for the Lakers as well with Lance Stephenson. He averaged seven points on 10.7 minutes of playing time. Following being drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves, Beasley never frankly found his footing in the league. He became a journeyman soon after his time with Minnesota.</p><p>Both Michael Beasley and Lance Stephenson are in their 30s, which could make for a challenge in cracking the rotation on a team even in the G League. Two men who have bounced around the NBA are not done chasing their dream and extending their careers, reminding everyone that it’s never too late to pursue success in any endeavor, even if the odds might seem daunting.</p><figure class="op-tracker"></figure></article>    </body></html>

He was selected just one pick behind eventual MVP Derrick Rose.</p><p>While his physical talents were evident from the get-go, the 6-foot-9 lefty was plagued with inconsistency and never turned to the superstar he was first projected to be. Five days later, the Beasley experiment seems to be over even before it started.</p><p>According to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29461336/sources-new-net-michael-beasley-leaves-orlando-bubble">Malika Andrews and Tim Bontemps of ESPN</a>, Beasley has left the Disney World bubble in Orlando. Obviously, the latter did not occur.</p><p>As the Nets prepare to participate in the resumption of the 2019-20 NBA campaign later this month, they will be without Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Spencer Dinwiddie, DeAndre Jordan and Taurean Prince.</p><p>While Durant and Irving are recovering from injuries, all three of Dinwiddie, Jordan and Prince tested positive for COVID-19 and declined to take part in the restart.</p><p>To combat the deterioration of the roster, Brooklyn signed veteran guards Jamal Crawford and Tyler Johnson before agreeing to terms with Michael Beasley. The Nets also signed rookie big man Donta Hall, who was released by the Detroit Pistons earlier this season.</p><p>Beasley last appeared in the NBA during the 2018-19 campaign, when he played 26 games with the Los Angeles Lakers. Michael certainly is that.” <a target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Nets?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Nets</a></p><p>— Brian Lewis (@NYPost_Lewis) <a target="_blank" href="https://twitter.com/NYPost_Lewis/status/1281327404087205890?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">July 9, 2020</a></p></blockquote><p><script async="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p></figure><p>The Nets needed bodies for the resumption of the 2019-20 season down in Orlando since Durant, Kyrie Irving, DeAndre Jordan, Wilson Chandler, Spencer Dinwiddie and Taurean Prince won’t be playing.</p><p>Durant (Achilles) and Irving (shoulder) are recovering from injuries, Chandler cited family reasons as to why he dropped out and Jordan, Prince and Dinwiddie each contracted COVID-19.</p><p>The Nets are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings. They have to compile a better seeding-games-record than the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards if they want to keep that seventh slot.</p><p>Beasley will have to serve a five-game suspension because of a previously failed drug test before he can make his Brooklyn debut. The lefty appeared in 26 games for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018-19. He<a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/beaslmi01.html"> averaged</a> 7.0 points and 2.3 rebounds.</p><p>Along with Beasley, the Nets also added three-time Sixth Man of the Year Jamal Crawford to the roster.</p><p>The Nets will be title contenders in 2020-21 once Durant and Irving play. However, considering with how things have been going for the Nets as of late, it would not be surprising if this deal becomes official within the next few hours/days.</p><p>​​The Nets <a href="https://clutchpoints.com/nets-news-spencer-dinwiddie-to-sit-out-restart-under-advice-from-doctors/" rel="noopener noreferrer">lost</a> both DeAndre Jordan and Spencer Dinwiddie in the buildup to the season restart, with both players testing positive for COVID-19. Brooklyn are also still missing the services of their two superstars, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, who are both fully expected to miss the remainder of the season in the Orlando bubble as they recover from respective injuries.</p><p>Needless to say, the Nets have a few holes to fill in their roster, and this is where guys like Jamal Crawford and Michael Beasley will come in.</p><p>The last fans saw Beasley in the NBA was in the 2018-19 campaign with the Los Angeles Lakers. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged <a href="https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/beaslmi01.html#all_per_game">7.0 points</a>, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in just 10.7 minutes of action per night during the season.
