Even though iconic San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili will never again suit up as a player for the Spurs organization, he has indicated that he would still like to play a part in helping the franchise progress and improve.
In a goodbye statement, Ginobili made it clear that he would not simply abandon the team that he spent his entire NBA career with, saying;
“What I made clear to Pop is that it's not ‘Ciao, I'm leaving.' My children have already started classes and while I'm in town I'll be close to the team and the franchise. Maybe I cannot help (anymore) by taking a (charge) or (with a steal) or something, but I'll try to add in what I can. I have a great appreciation for my teammates, for the staff and all the people on the team and I want it to go as well as possible. If I can help from the outside, I will do it with pleasure.”

Ginobili was renowned across the league for his superior basketball IQ, so it would make sense that the savvy Argentine would transfer well from player to coach.
The Spurs have an excellent track record of producing head coaches. Gregg Popovich is considered one of the best coaches of all time and is a lock for the Hall of Fame. If Ginobili does decide to go the coaching route, he is in excellent hands.
While it's sad to see an era officially end with Ginobili's retirement, it will be fun to watch all these excellent players continue their paths in life and see where they end up. Hopefully, Manu Ginobili sees as much success off the court as on it.
