By no stretch of the imagination was it easy to accomplish, but the San Antonio Spurs (47-34) can now officially say that they have made it back to the postseason for the 21st consecutive year after they rallied to beat the Sacramento Kings 98-85 on Monday night.

A team that has battled the injury bug and controversy for a majority of their 2017-18 season, the Spurs made sure to make it back to the postseason in a wild Western Conference playoff race.

31-year-old veteran forward Rudy Gay, who is playing in his first season with San Antonio, led the way for the Spurs in just 21 minutes off the bench with a team-high 18 points and six rebounds on the night, including 5-of-9 shooting from the field and a nearly-perfect 8-of-9 from the charity stripe.

“It feels good, it feels great actually,” Gay said after the victory, per an article by Raul Dominguez of the Associated Press. “This is what the regular season is for, to get to where we are now. This is a good feeling, something that I'm anxious for something I've been looking forward to for a long time. It'll be fun.”

Longtime San Antonio shooting guard Manu Ginobili, who will turn 41-years-old in July, was also a stud off legendary head coach Gregg Popovich's bench with 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists in 27 minutes of action.

“For moments we felt like the worst team in the NBA, but we still managed to go close to 50 games and make it to the playoffs in a conference that is tough and talented and young and athletic. So, we managed to compete,” Ginobili said.

The Spurs still have to play one more game on Wednesday night against the New Orleans Pelicans before they know who their opponent is in the first round, but their 21 consecutive seasons in the playoffs is extremely impressive, to say the least.
