Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner is expected to play in Week 8 against the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football. According to Brooke Pryor of ESPN, Conner is dealing with an injured quad, but he is expected to be healthy enough to go.

“RB James Conner injured his quad against the Chargers, but said Wednesday he expects to play Monday night. He also said he feels healthy, which he backed up earlier this week with an exuberant run around the locker room to celebrate a gaming headset given to him by JuJu Smith-Schuster.”

Conner couldn't play in the fourth quarter in the team's last game against the Los Angeles Chargers. The Steelers had a bye in Week 7, which allowed him to have an extra week to rest and recover.

It's still unclear if Conner will receive a full workload when he returns to the lineup. If he is unable, the Steelers have a solid backup in Benny Snell to lean on while Connor works his way back. On the season Snell has rushed 23 attempts for 105 yards. Even though he hasn't received a ton of chances he has done good when he has been on the field.

It has been a decent season for Connor when he has played, but for the Steelers to achieve greater success during the remainder of the season, he is going to need to be a standout. So far this year, he has rushed 74 times for 235 yards and three touchdowns.

The Steelers currently hold a 2-4 record and if they want to make the playoffs, it must start with a win over an underwhelming Dolphins team.
