The Pittsburgh Steelers have heightened expectations in 2020 with Ben Roethlisberger returning from injury. While he prepares for his fourth season in the NFL, JuJu Smith-Schuster is glad to have Roethlisberger back under center for the Steelers.

Said Smith-Schuster during an appearance on Good Morning Football on Friday:

“Honestly, I think it's going to be a big year for us. I was very happy with the draft picks we got, being able to draft a running back, being able to draft [Chase] Claypool. Good defense. We already had a solid defense. Our missing piece was Ben. I think coming up this year, it's going to be a great year for us … Just wait. Honestly, I just gotta say just wait and let our pads do the talking.”

In Week 2 of last season, Roethlisberger sustained a season-ending elbow injury versus the Seattle Seahawks. As a result of his injury, the Steelers faltered on offense, having the 31st ranked passing attack in 2019. In addition, Pittsburgh finished with the 27th-ranked scoring offense.

As for Smith-Schuster, besides dealing with injuries, not having Roethlisberger negatively affected his production. Even though he was expected to be the No. 1 wide receiver with Antonio Brown being traded, Smith-Schuster tallied 42 receptions for 552 yards and three touchdowns.

While the offense was dreadful last season, the defense performed remarkably, leading the NFL in sacks and takeaways. The expectation is that Pittsburgh's defense will be able to repeat their performance in 2020. And with Roethlisberger at quarterback again, Smith-Schuster believes the Steelers can be a dangerous team next season.
