Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph has seemingly closed the door on any lingering issue between himself and Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.

Having engaged in a brawl last season in which Garrett ripped off and swung Rudolph's helmet at his head–following accusations that the backup Steelers QB had uttered racial slurs at him–there had been lingering rumors that tension still existed between the two.

While both have avoided discussing the incident at any length, Rudolph has, over the past week, attempted to repair any damage by telling reporters that he has “great respect” for the Browns DE.

Following the conclusion of their match on Sunday, Rudolph also took to Twitter to share a picture of the two exchanging pleasantries after the game.

While it seems unlikely that the two competitors will ever have a substantial relationship, the mending of the fence between them will, at the very least, remove a potential distraction for the squads moving forward. Given that the division rivals play against one another twice a year, the issue became a recurring theme discussed ad nauseam in the week leading up to Steelers-Browns games.

With the feud now firmly behind them, both players will look ahead to the start of the playoffs next week. While Mason Rudolph will likely return to the Steelers' bench, given the expected start of Ben Roethlisberger, Myles Garrett will serve as a focal point for the Browns defense as they make their return to the postseason for the first time since 2002.

For the Browns and Steelers, those are topics they would much rather discuss.
