The Pittsburgh Steelers have had the lingering holdout situation with star running back Le'Veon Bell hovering over the franchise over the last few months.

Despite all of that, Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network is reporting that the Steelers do not plan to rescind the franchise tag for the 2018 season on Bell and expect him to be back at some point this season.

The Steelers have a strong desire to have Bell back in the mix, but it has simply been that there is no timetable for him to make his return to the team. This has put the franchise in a tough spot, but this decision to not rescind his franchise tag shows that they are confident that he will make his return to the field at some point in time in the near future. Bell is still one of the league's best running backs and has shown that he can have a tremendous impact on the offense that has helped the team experience much success on the field.

The issue has been with that there is no clarity as to when he will be back as he is still holding out. This has created a strong level of disappointment through the franchise that it has reached this point, but the team certainly has a strong desire to have him back to be a major part of the puzzle. In order to compete for the Super Bowl this season Bell would have to play a major part of the offense given what he brings to the table behind the high level of production a dual-threat option out of the backfield.

All of this simply lies on when Bell determines he wants to come back to the team as Pittsburgh is committed to having him in the fold for the 2018 season.
