Shazier has remained positive and knows that his desire to play is not lost. However, his body is not quite there. The Steelers are riding with Shazier every step of the way and taking advantage of his competitive drive, even if he can't personally be on the field.

“I really can’t complain at all,” he said. “Just trusting the Lord and working hard. I do feel like, just having my family and having a positive mindset and just feeling like I’m going to get better. If I didn’t think about getting better and thought that things wouldn’t change, I would be stuck where I’m at. I’m truly just thankful that I have a great mindset. I still plan on trying to play football,” he said. “I’m constantly just working and trying to figure out what I’m going to do off the field also. Maybe coaching, maybe getting into business. But right now, my main goal is to play football.”

Shazier's desire to help his teammates is laudable; considering the injury he sustained, he could have easily called it a career and stayed at home living his life. The Steelers drafted a bonafide leader in every sense of the word. The efforts of Ryan Shazier to help his teammates is very special.
