On Friday morning, Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Justin Layne was arrested, per ESPN. He's facing a felony gun charge after police pulled him over in Lake County, Ohio. Layne was visiting his hometown during the offseason, as he apparently was arrested “less than 20 miles northeast of Cleveland, where he went to high school.”

The felony gun charge isn't the only allegation Layne is facing, as according to ESPN, “he was also charged with two misdemeanors — driving with a suspended license and exceeding speed limits.” It's unclear what will be determined for Justin Layne right now, as is awaiting his preliminary court hearing.

Layne is entering his third season in the NFL. He wrapped up his sophomore season with the Steelers and had 22 total tackles through 16 games. Layne was possibly looking at playing a considerable amount of time this coming season after playing as a role player for Pittsburgh last year. Instead, his future is up in the air at the moment after this arrest.

The offseason seems to be an Achilles heel for some NFL players. Layne is the second player in the league to have gun charges against him. Marshon Lattimore was pulled over back in March for a similar incident. Additionally, Deshaun Watson is facing allegations of his own, which is another problem the NFL is dealing with during the offseason.

We'll see how Layne's case plays out, as this could prevent him from playing the NFL next year, or beyond. The NFL has yet to get involved, as this case is brand new. For the Steelers, they have a lot to monitor.
