Before the New York Knicks ultimately dealt Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks in a shocking move late last week, the Knicks had numerous possibilities for trade packages.

As a matter of fact, Knicks president Steve Mills says that the team had eight different scenarios in which it could have moved the big man:

You can imagine why a 23-year-old center with that type of ability would garner that type of interest around the league.

Of course, Porzingis comes with a couple of caveats.

First of all, he is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last February, and prior to the knee injury, Porzingis had already displayed difficulty staying healthy. Second, Porzingis is set to be a restricted free agent this summer and will command a massive deal, a contract that many teams may not be willing to fulfill given his checkered injury history.

However, the Mavericks certainly seem prepared to take that risk, with the potential of a Porzingis-Luka Doncic duo obviously moving them to make the trade with the Knicks.

Porzingis was originally selected by New York with the fourth overall pick of the 2015 NBA Draft, a selection that was met with boos and contention from Knicks fans.

But New York quickly fell in love with the phenom when he demonstrated his ability during his rookie campaign and continued to do so in his second and third seasons before succumbing to the knee injury.

Porzingis' displeasure with the Knicks' organization had been building for quite some time.
