The departure of Kevin Durant from the Oklahoma City Thunder left plenty of holes to fill. Center Steven Adams is doing his part to make sure those holes get filled.

One of the main things the Thunder will lack this year is consistent three-point shooting. Their remaining leader, Russell Westbrook, shot a dismal 29.6 percent from long range last season, attempting more than four per game.

While the absence of KD means that Westbrook is poised to have a breakout year (if the past two haven't been already), it also means his field goal percentage is bound to dip.

Steven Adams figures due to his playoff success from mid-range, that he could be in line for some open threes:

“It isn't up to me whether I'm going to say ‘Yo, I'm going to do this,'” Adams said at his New Zealand training camp on Wednesday, per Hussein Moses of The Wireless. “It's the coach's job to put us in the best position to succeed, not only individually but as a team. So I'm just waiting for his word … (I might) shoot some threes.”

While there is a big difference between a two-month's worth of success from mid-range to being a reliable three-point shooter, it looks like Adams has a good head on his shoulders and is eager to help the team.

The Thunder will surely benefit more by the scrappiness, defensive tenacity and effort that made him a huge asset in their postseason run. Though it's a good sign that he's willing to improve and do what it takes to win.
