For Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green, the 2021-22 MVP is clearly Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker.

While Booker has been criminally overlooked for the award this season, Green emphasized that shouldn't be the case. He also highlighted one major edge the Suns youngster has over other MVP candidates like Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo: consistency.

“My MVP is Devin Booker. I think Book has been consistent all year. As good as their team has been, again we go back to the conversation, there's no criteria–some years it is the best player on the best team, some years it's … you know … Russell Westbrook whose team's in sixth place but he won. Don't get me wrong, he deserved to win, but you all just wonder what's the criteria,” Green said on his show.

“However, for my criteria, Devin Booker. He is the MVP of the NBA.”

True enough, Devin Booker has a strong case for MVP if “narratives” don't play a big part in swaying media votes. He is the best player on the best team, and while he has help, his team wouldn't be the best in the league without him.

To Draymond Green's point, if that's not enough for MVP, then there's really something wrong about how people decide for it.

Unfortunately for Book, he has a slim chance of actually winning it. Based on the current talks, it's either Embiid, Jokic or Antetokounmpo who would be taking home the honor. While they all deserve it, there is no doubt the Suns scorer should be at least in the conversation–but that has not been the case at all.

For the season, Booker is averaging 26.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.9 assists while shooting 46.4 percent from the field and 37.7 percent from deep. With him leading the way, the Suns are set to finish as the lone 60-win team–heading to Tuesday's game with a 62-16 record.

At just 25 years old, Booker has plenty more chances to become MVP. However, it is certainly time to give him the respect he deserves. While his focus is on helping Phoenix win the championship, he has done more than enough to be in the talks among the league's best.
