Kyle Lowry is in a difficult position in Toronto. One of his closest friends, DeMar DeRozan, was traded away by the organization. Since then, the bad blood between DeRozan and Toronto has been made clear on numerous occasions.

Lowry is between a rock and a hard place. For the time being, the Toronto point guard is refusing to answer any questions not related to USA Basketball.

This is Lowry's way of putting off any questions regarding what transpired in Toronto. Lowry certainly wants to defend his close friend DeRozan, but he's still a member of the Raptors so it would be unwise to come out and take DeRozan's side.

Additionally, Lowry probably doesn't want to say anything that could be perceived as a slight to his new teammate Kawhi Leonard. Lowry and Kawhi will need to develop chemistry together if they want to reach their full potential. Furthermore, the Raptors are essentially auditioning as a permanent destination for Leonard.

How Lowry and Leonard coexist will likely play a major role in Leonard's decision to stay with Toronto or walk in free agency in 2019.

Toronto's point guard can sidestep questions right now. As Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports points out, Lowry dodges questions in a not-so-subtle way. But nonetheless, he can dodge these questions for now.

But the more he dodges, the longer he'll have to listen to reporters ask. Eventually, he's going to have to respond to the many questions surrounding the trade.
