There have been several reports that Jerami Grant of the Detroit Pistons will be dealt at the NBA trade deadline this year.
The Utah Jazz are one of the teams apparently interested in Grant. Utah has a few players they might choose to trade for him, and some of them will make more sense than others.
As we've seen with the Jazz over the last several seasons, they're generally one of the better teams throughout the regular season, but then they struggle in the playoffs. Many of their postseason difficulties may be due to a lack of a second star capable of taking over a game, and Grant might be the ideal player to fill that position.
Let's take a look at the best trade that the Jazz could offer the Pistons in order to get back that star in Jerami Grant.

Utah Best Trade For Jerami Grant
Jazz get: Jerami Grant
Pistons get: Bojan Bogdanovic and Hassan Whiteside

It could be difficult for the Jazz to determine whether or not to keep Bogdanovic, but they must also recognize that they have a few guys on their roster who can fill that same role. He's back to shooting about 40% on over six tries per game once again this season, making him one of the top 3-point shooters in the NBA.
Although he can hit the three-point shot at a high level, bringing back a player who can come in and be that star for them would undoubtedly assist them more than someone who can only really hit a three-point shot.
Hassan Whiteside has looked good in some of the minutes he's gotten this season, but the fact is that he won't be playing much come playoff time, and there's no need for him to be on this team at all. He's not a bad backup center option, and that's something the Pistons might be interested in. What the Jazz have to recognize is that if they want to be successful in the playoffs, Rudy Gobert will be the player who will play practically every minute of every game.
It will be fascinating to watch what the Jazz do, but there have been numerous speculations that if the proper offer comes back, a number of their players may be dealt. It would make a lot of sense if they could obtain someone like Jerami Grant for just these two guys. They urgently need someone to come in and score 20 to 25 points every night with Donovan Mitchell, because as prior years have shown, they don't have enough star power to get the job done.
This year, Utah has once again played like one of the best teams in the NBA throughout the regular season. Unfortunately for them, none of their regular-season success will matter much unless they can start putting it together in the playoffs.
They have the perfect opportunity to go out and get Grant. If they are going to finally find that success that they have been looking for in the playoffs, they will need to make a move and this might just be the right time to do so.
