On a recent shopping visit to a local Target, Oklahoma City Thunder swingman Andre Roberson met a grandmother with a unique story. After speaking with the woman for a while, Roberson learned that she was trying to adopt her grandchildren, but she couldn't afford the fee.

Roberson was touched by this woman's story. So much so that he decided to donate $7,500 to her cause.

“I was just touched by the little kids and her family,” Roberson said. “I caught wind that she has been trying to adopt them for a while, but she needed a little assistance. So I wanted to do something special for them.”

Roberson's act of kindness is admirable, to be sure, as adoption is a pricey endeavor. His donation will go a long way towards bringing this family together.

Roberson, now 27 years of age, is currently sidelined due to a knee injury that he sustained in January. His rehab was going well until he landed awkwardly during practice in Novemember. MRI scans that were taken revealed a small avulsion fracture. As a result, the Thunder ruled him out for six weeks.

“Roberson was progressing toward a return but was still some time away,” ESPN's Royce Young reported in November. “And while this setback is obviously unfortunate, it doesn’t entirely reset the timetable for him to come back. In six weeks, the Thunder will have a clear picture of his expected return to play.”

Though he's currently unable to take the floor with his teammates, Roberson is still finding ways to impact the Thunder community.
