Chris Paul has had something of a whirlwind offseason, having been traded from the Houston Rockets after only two seasons to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Russell Westbrook.

On Monday, Paul posted a cryptic Instagram Story that simply featured the peace sign emoji.

What exactly could that mean?

Of course, the most obvious conclusion to jump to is that Paul, despite not even playing a game in OKC, is already prepared to be traded to a better situation. Since the Thunder will likely not be fighting for a playoff spot for the first time in a long while, Paul might search for greener pastures elsewhere in the league.

Still though, with Paul’s contract setting him up to make roughly $124 million over the next three seasons, finding a willing trade partner might be a near-impossibility for OKC.

Conversely, Paul’s enigmatic Instagram post could also be a response to the recent comments from Tilman Fertitta, the owner of the Houston Rockets. Fertitta went on record claiming that the team’s trade of Paul for Russell Westbrook was because it was a “better option” and not because of the rumored rift between Paul and James Harden.

No matter the reason for this mysterious social media post, the 2019-20 season is sure to be an action-packed one filled with plenty of intrigue for all parties involved — including Paul, Fertitta, Westbrook, Harden and many more.
