With the sports world still in stasis due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis around the world, NBA fans have been engrossed in the long-requested documentary about the Michael Jordan-era Chicago Bulls “The Last Dance.” NBA players and journalists of all stripes have been tuning in weekly to enjoy the archival footage from one of the most legendary teams of all time. One player that is finding motivation in the documentary is Oklahoma City Thunder star Chris Paul.

The Thunder veteran discussed the long-awaited documentary on UNINTERRUPTED's WRTS: The After Party:

“Like this is almost the closest thing that we getting to hoops right now, and this right here, imagine if we was, like, in season right now or if the playoffs was going on right now and we was getting to watch this doc. Imagine what the games would be like. ‘Cause I know for me, like, I'll watch this and I'm like, ‘I can't wait to work out tomorrow.' And I'm not even going on the court. This is literally just lifting weights.”

Indeed, it has been a month and a half since the NBA suspended its season due to COVID-19. And the league has tried a variety of entertaining – though gimmicky – televised events to keep people engaged.

For his part, Paul seemed to need little motivation during the 2019-20 season. He has managed to turn back the clock with the Oklahoma City Thunder after seemingly being “washed” with the Rockets during the two years prior.

Paul is the clear-cut leader of the Thunder’s highly unorthodox, but effective three-guard lineup in OKC. That lineup also includes sophomore Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and speedy scorer Dennis Schröder.
