Toronto Raptors guards Kyle Lowry and Patrick McCaw heaped praise on Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai-Gilgeous Alexander for his “All-Star” play this season.
Though it was a heartbreaking 98-97 loss for the Raptors, Lowry and McCaw still took time to praise Gilgeous-Alexander for his performance not just against them, but for the entire year. For McCaw, the second-year man is a future All-Star and superstar in the league. Oshae Brissett, meanwhile, is really proud of his childhood friend.
In Sunday's win over the Raptors, Gilgeous-Alexander had 32 points, seven rebounds and two assists for the Thunder. His 32-point tally tied his career-high, but most importantly, SGA made the game-winning shot.
After the game, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander shared his thoughts on tying his career-high. Though it was a great milestone, it was just the cherry on top. The important thing is that they got the win.
”It feels good but all of it, honestly, wouldn't have meant anything if we didn't win,” Gilgeous-Alexander said, per Ian Harrison of the Associated Press via Yahoo Sports. ”That was the best feeling, knowing that we came out of here with a win.”
The Thunder's win on Sunday marks their sixth win in seven games. They currently sport a 17-15 record for the seventh seed in the West. They'll face the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday where they can extend their streak to three games.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, for his part, has a chance to put on another great performance. Since scoring just seven points against the Chicago Bulls last Dec. 16, SGA has been putting on a show. In the Thunder's last six games, he is averaging 27.3 points while shooting above 42 percent in all outings.
