There is no question that Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook is one the best players in the world, but over the last few years, there have been questions about how good of a teammate he actually is.

Zach Lowe on his podcast said that he has talked to players around the league who would have voted for Westbrook to be the MVP, but at the same time would never want to be his teammate. On the surface it looked like Westbrook and Kevin Durant had a good relationship, but Westbrook was a big reason that Durant left to the Golden State Warriors.

The problems between the two weren't new and actually started all the way back in 2010 while both were on the Thunder. Durant scheduled a meeting with management to express his doubts about playing with Russell Westbrook. He canceled the meeting, but according to Royce Young, he really believed he couldn't play with him.

Also around the time it was the playoff series where Westbrook had taken like 31 shots against the Denver Nuggets and they lost Game 4, and this is when the narrative started of Westbrook shooting more than Durant, like ‘Can they coexist? Westbrook shoots more than Durant,' and Durant was buying into that. Like he was buying into that idea and he wanted to sit down and say like ‘I can't play with this guy.' He got talked out of it, he resolved to make it work with Westbrook, and they obviously had an incredible relationship.

Westbrook is the type of guy who needs the ball, and that makes it hard for some other guys to play with him, just because of the sheer number of shots he puts up a game.
