Paul Pierce is known as one of the best small forwards of his era. A former NBA star turned media presence, Pierce often likes to share his takes on the season's current happenings. On Wednesday evening, Pierce tweeted out his newest hot take — Paul George for MVP:

The Oklahoma City Thunder have come out this season with a vengeance. They have one of the best defenses in the entire league built around Paul George, Russell Westbrook and Steven Adams. George plays such a large role in guarding the other team's best wing player every night. He also is able to score very efficiently off the ball and is an excellent No. 2 next to Westbrook. Not many players who have played with Westbrook can say that.

On the season, George is averaging 25.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists for the Thunder. He's shooting 44.7 percent from the line as well as 38.2 percent from the field. The offensive production alone makes him a part of the MVP race conversation. But when one includes how great George is as a defender, it only makes his candidacy more valid. He just simply makes the team so much better when he's playing.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are 20-10 on the season after a 132-113 victory over the Sacramento Kings in which Paul George put up a whopping 43 points. The Thunder are second in the NBA's Western Conference under head coach Billy Donovan. They play the Utah Jazz next in Salt Lake City on Saturday.
