Fans rarely see 20-point, 20-rebound double-doubles from big men today, which makes Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's feat even more remarkable.

The 6-foot-5 combo guard became just the second guard in the last 30 years to record a 20-point, 20-rebound triple, joining Houston Rockets superstar Russell Westbrook. He also surpassed NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille O' Neal as the youngest player in NBA history with a 20-rebound triple-double, per ESPN Stats & Info.

Gilgeous-Alexander was all over the box score in the Thunder's 117-104 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center on Monday, notching 20 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists in 36 minutes of action.

Joining the Thunder as part of the massive Paul George trade between OKC and the Los Angeles Clippers over the summer, the second-year player has made significant improvements while playing alongside Chris Paul.

Entering Monday's match, the former Kentucky product is averaging 19.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals while making 46.4 percent of his shots from the field and 33.6 percent from past the arc.

His stellar play has allowed the Thunder to remain competitive in the crowded Western Conference standings, currently holding seventh place with a 23-17 slate.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has also thrown his hat into the conversation for Most Improved Player of the Year, while also being in the top three in almost all statistical categories for OKC this year. After losing superstars Russell Westbrook and Paul George in the offseason, the Thunder were expected to enter a rebuilding phase.

The team, however, has continued to overachieve, winning eight of their last 10 games thanks in large part to the emergence of Gilgeous-Alexander and the leadership of CP3.
