The Oklahoma City Thunder have gotten some unfortunate news as their star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has entered the Covid protocols. Fortunately for the Thunder, Josh Giddey has exited. He will certainly need to step up while Alexander is gone.
This is unfortunate news for the Thunder. Gilgeous-Alexander has been about the only bright spot for this team amongst a few others. There’s a good chance that he is going to be an NBA All-Star this season as he’s averaged 22.7 points per game, 4.8 rebounds, and 5.2 assists for the Thunder this season.
Oklahoma City has actually been playing much better than many people expected them to so far throughout the year. They were able to come away with an impressive 95-80 win against the New York Knicks on Friday night. The Thunder improved to 13-22 on the season. Obviously, that isn’t a great record but for a team that didn’t have many expectations, they have certainly played better than many would have thought.
Considering that they are still deep into a rebuild process, the fans of the Thunder have to be excited about what they have seen. Many reasons for that are because of just how good Gilgeous-Alexander has been this year. With the young stars that they have, the future is certainly bright in Oklahoma City. They will look to get back on track once he returns from the protocols and potentially even make a playoff push if they can get some luck to go their way.
