The Oklahoma City Thunder's COVID-19 situation has hit another level on Tuesday as rookie guard Josh Giddey and head coach Mark Daigneault entered the league's health and safety protocols.

Via Adrian Wojnarowski and Shams Charania:

Darius Bazley, Aleksej Pokusevski, Tre Mann, and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl are all sidelined for the Thunder due to the virus as well. Giddey has proven to be a very promising talent for OKC in Year One, starting 30 games while averaging 10.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per night. He's only missed two contests all season.

With Daigneault unavailable to coach, assistant Mike Wilks will step in for the time being:

The Thunder are currently 12-20 and head on a West Coast road trip starting on Tuesday in Sacramento against the Kings. On Wednesday, they also face the Phoenix Suns. Although Giddey is out, Oklahoma City still has their two most important players available in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Lu Dort. The two Canadians are enjoying a solid campaign and will be relied upon even more to not only score but also create with Giddey out of the mix right now.

SGA is putting up 22.4 points per night, while Dort is averaging 16.8. Let's hope some of these players on the shelf can get healthy and return to the fold sooner rather than later, especially with the CDC's new guidelines for isolation.
