Oklahoma City Thunder swingman Corey Brewer is hopeful to return to the team after being signed as a free agent following his buyout with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The dynamic defensive wing noted his desire to return according to Florida Gators beat writer Kevin Brockway.

“I'd like to go back to Oklahoma City but we will see how things work out,” said Brewer. “You never know in free agency.”

The Thunder will have a rather expensive bill this summer, owing $87.44 million to their top three best-paid players (Russell Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony, and Steven Adams), while a possibility of Paul George's contract still remains, adding another $20.7 million to that figure.

Brewer proved to be a timely addition by the Thunder, but his purpose was to make up for the loss of injured wing Andre Roberson, who suffered a season-ending injury, vastly hurting OKC defensively.

The former Gator will be considered as a nice luxury to have, but not a definite priority, given the ensuing massive tax bill (currently estimated at $27.6 million, per Spotrac), which is only bound to get bigger with any additional signings.

The Thunder's most feasible asset is a tax-payer mid-level exception ($5.3 million) and a trade exception ($2.55 million) stemming from the George trade, though they're unlikely to use it on Brewer unless depth becomes an issue over the course of the free agency process.
