Minnesota Timberwolves forward Andrew Wiggins is off to a hot start this NBA season.

He's averaging 19.3 points, 1.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game entering the night as the Timberwolves try to build chemistry after an offseason of solid additions.

The Timberwolves are expecting big things from the 6-foot-8 forward this season after negotiating a 5-year $148 million extension this summer. That was enough to show the willingness of the team to build around Andrew Wiggins and count him in as part of the team's core going into the future.

Wiggins is carrying his own weight in the process, even knocking down a game-winner against the Oklahoma City Thunder last week to the delight of his teammates and a huge confidence booster early into the season.

It was no different Monday night when the Timberwolves took on the Miami Heat in South Beach looking for another win, but it was one that would not come easy. This game remained close throughout and the action didn't stop until Minnesotta closed the show with a narrow 125-122 win in overtime.

The Canadian forward scored 22 points on 7-of-23 shooting but also capped off the 4th quarter with the play of the night when he drove to the basket and threw down a nasty crowd deflating tomahawk jam over Josh Richardson for good measure.
