More details on the Wizards‘ push to land former Thunder head coach Scott Brooks have been released.

Yesterday, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical revealed that Washington general manager Ernie Grunfeld met with Brooks in Southern California and offered him the head coaching position. Now, we know the specifics of that deal.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the contract offered is somewhere in the $30-35 million range for five years. That's between $6-7 million a year.

Both the Wizards and the Houston Rockets emerged as the top candidates for Brooks' services, even though he apparently expressed interest in possibly coaching the Lakers. Now, it seems that Washington has taken the lead.

The Rockets still have a large interest in Brooks, but the Wizards appear determined to beat them to the punch and take advantage of the fact that the Rockets are still in the playoffs with interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff.

At this point, Houston can only hope that he'll wait to hear them out after they're eliminated. The way things are going in their series with the Warriors, that could be quite soon.

In his seven seasons with the Thunder, Brooks went 338-207, reaching the NBA Finals in 2012.

Jeff Van Gundy is also a front runner for the spot in Houston, which could play a big role in whether or not Brooks steps into the position in the nation's capital sooner rather than later.
