In one of his recent streams, Cloud9 ace Tyson “TenZ” Ngo mentioned his thoughts about Icebox, a recent entry in Valorant's battlegrounds. He admitted that he considers the map to be his favorite.

His teammates on the other hand have varying opinions about the map, with his Reyna dubbing it as “weird” while his Raze mentioned that he once hated the map, only for him to change his mind.

A month ago, TenZ alongside his Cloud9 teammate Daniel “vice” Kim dissected the map. They mentioned that the map has a plethora of sniping areas, which can also be used to deploy turrets and other traps. This makes Icebox an arena that favors the defensive side as the offensive side will have to carefully use their utilities while dealing with a huge load of crossfire across multiple angles. Jett users in particular could blink on top of the crates, which can serve as a vantage point for them to use her blade storm ability which deals a significant damage especially when aimed at the opposition's head. TenZ and vice likewise indicated that there are cheesy hiding points and one major chokepoint that could serve as a bane for the offensive team en route to side B as they can easily be denied by a barrier or a sniper shot.

Given the difficulties in traversing the map, it is surprising to hear that TenZ actually favors it which can be highlighted in his performances in that recent stream where he topped the leaderboards. If there's one thing Valorant players can learn from the release of Jett is that time can only tell if a game mechanic is worth it, a saying which can likewise apply with the introduction of Icebox.
