Victor Oladipo has been Russell Westbrook‘s teammate for only two games but in those two games he has seen greatness. Westbrook, with the help of Oladipo, has helped the Thunder to a 2-0 start. It hasn't been pretty for OKC, but wins are wins.

In those two victories for the Oklahoma City Thunder over the Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns, Westbrook averaged 41.5 points, 9.5 assists, and 12.5 rebounds. Crazy numbers to say the least but the Thunder are going to have to find more help for Westbrook sometime soon. Oladipo was the man that many thought would be his running mate, but can still contribute more than he has. Oladipo is averaging 15.5 points, 1.5 assists, and 5.0 rebounds on just 33% shooting for the Thunder.

Numbers like this can be understood for a guy coming into a new team and new system, but he'll have to step up sooner rather than later. Until he does, Oklahoma City will play on the back of Westbrook.

After the Thunder's last win, Oladipo spoke on the greatness of Westbrook. Per Royce Young of ESPN:

“Not being here, you hear a lot about him. You hear a lot of rumors. You hear a lot of things. But sitting by him and working with him every day, and building a friendship with him every day, you realize what type of man he truly is. And this dude right here wants to win more than anyone in the world. And he'll do anything to do that. The misconception of what he used to be or what he is, is false.”

Clearly, being around Westbrook has brought some newfound respect from Oladipo, and not just on the court. Many believe that Westbrook could have an off-putting personality and it's why some players don't want go to Oklahoma City. Oladipo seems to think the opposite. If the Thunder want to win games and keep Oladipo for the long-term, Russell Westbrook looks like the perfect man to be leading that charge.
