The Minnesota Vikings have a primetime matchup ahead of them in Week 14 against another formidable opponent in the Carolina Panthers.

Leading the charge for the Panthers will be former league MVP quarterback Cam Newton with his eyes toward pushing his team a step closer to reaching the playoffs. Ahead of the contest, Vikings star defensive end Everson Griffen has voiced a simple solution for stopping Newton, according to John Shipley of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

“Well, you just hit him,” Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen said.“You keep on hitting him. He’s a big guy.”

Newton has had his fair share of struggles this season, but he is still one of the league's premier quarterbacks that can impact the game greatly as a dual threat with both his arm and legs. He has thrown six touchdowns with no interceptions in the last three games while rushing for more than 50 yards five times this season.

However, the Vikings have had much success against him in the last two games played, sacking him 12 times while garnering four interceptions. It is clear that there is a game plan in place that could slow Newton and the Panthers offense.

Minnesota possesses one of the top defenses in the league, ranking second defensively with 77.7 rushing yards per game allowed, 10th against the pass, and second giving up just 17.0 points per contest. This could be the recipe for another tough grind it out type game against Carolina come this Sunday afternoon.
