Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski could be up for a big promotion this offseason. According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Stefanski could find himself interviewing for some head-coaching jobs this winter.

Talk about a quick jump.

Stefanski just took over as Vikings offensive coordinator this past week after the team fired John DeFillipo following Minnesota's lifeless 21-7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday.

Stefanski had been serving as the Vikings' quarterbacks coach before the promotion, a job he had held since last season.

The 36-year-old has been a member of Minnesota's coaching staff since 2006, first serving as an assistant head coach from 2006-08 before taking on the role of assistant quarterbacks coach in 2009.

After holding that job for five years, Stefanski was named the tight ends coach in 2014, and two years later, he became the running backs coach. He was then promoted to quarterbacks coach in 2017.

So, it's safe to say that Stefanski, who, oddly enough, was a defensive back in college, has plenty of experience coaching on the offensive side.

Last year, the Vikings blocked Stefanski from going with Pat Shurmur to become the New York Giants' offensive coordinator, so this is not the first time Stefanski has drawn interest from other ballclubs.

Minnesota is in the midst of an up-and-down season, currently owning a record of 6-6-1 with three games left to play. The Vikings are clinging to the final Wild Card spot in the NFC playoff picture, holding off three 6-7 teams.

Minnesota will host the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
