Following the Golden State Warriors' win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, there was much made about the officiating in the final couple of minutes of the fourth quarter.
In response to that, the NBA released the last two-minute report that stated that the referees missed three calls late in the game, including one on Kevin Durant making contact with LeBron James on a drive to the basket in the final 30 seconds of the game. According to Connor Letourneau of SFGate.com, Warriors forward Draymond Green voiced that he believes the final two-minute report is quite pointless for the NBA to release.
There was some clear contact on the play in question from Durant on James, but it is part of the game that human error plays a factor. There are certainly calls throughout the course of an NBA game that are not always officiated correctly.
This was one of those instances with a high-profile player being at the center of it in a major moment of the contest. The last two-minute just makes for more added attention to that play in the game even after the fact that it is concluded.
If anything, it draws away a bit from what was a highly competitive Christmas Day game between two of the top teams in the league. Ultimately, there will be plenty of instances in future games where calls are either not or should be made.
