The Golden State Warriors are hoping Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson will get help from Otto Porter Jr. this season.

Apart from Klay Thompson’s looming return, the Warriors have their “fingers crossed” on having Otto Porter healthy this season to provide more buckets from the wing, NBC Sports reported.

Porter has an been impressive in shooting mid-range jumpers when healthy, but his injury history is a major concern for the Warriors. Porter has missed more games than he has played since the 2017-18 season, the report said.

Should things go well for Porter, the report added that Golden State could be looking at having “the most dangerous trio of deep shooters,” suggesting Stephen Curry and Thompson in the backcourt and Porter working on the wing.

Standing at 6-foot-8 combined with a 7-foot-1 wingspan, Porter presents a strong case to become the Warriors’ “combo forward,” who can function as both a four (power forward) and a three (small forward).

What’s even more worth noting Porter also has a magic touch beyond the arc, having shot with 39.1 percent accuracy on 3-pointers. Moreover, his efficiency from the wing stands out, having registered 44.2-percent shooting from the right corner, 42.8 percent from the right wing, and 39.0 from the left.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is pleased with what he sees in Porter.

“Watching him in practice, he shoots it from all over,” Kerr said of Porter Jr via NBC Sports. “He can be a pick-and-pop guy at the top of the key. He could space the floor from the corner and catch and shoot from there.”
