The Golden State Warriors absorbed a tough blow in their game against the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday at Chase Center after Jimmy Butler was forced to exit after the first half.
The Warriors started strong, outscoring the Suns, 33-19, in the opening quarter. But Butler, who was included in the injury report before the contest, looked uncomfortable on the floor. He tried to play through but couldn't continue after the break.
According to ClutchPoints' Brett Siegel, Butler suffered lower back soreness and will not return against the Suns.
Golden State led Phoenix at halftime, 68-49.
Butler finished his evening with two points, four rebounds, and two assists in 14 minutes.
The All-Star forward has dealt with various injuries in recent years, and it would be a sorry development if he sits out for an extended period.
The 36-year-old Butler has not missed a game this season. In seven outings, he has averaged 21.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.9 assists, helping Dub Nation to a 4-3 record before facing the Suns.
