Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob is confident star small forward Kevin Durant will return for the NBA Finals.

The Warriors have over a week off after sweeping the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference Finals. Durant is still recovering from the right calf strain he suffered in Game 5 of the second round against the Houston Rockets:

“I don’t know if you forgot so quickly how in the first round, and the second round, and how everyone was saying Kevin was the greatest player in the world and he was dominant,” Lacob told Sam Amick of The Athletic. “So he was incredibly important. Unfortunately, he got injured. He’s coming back now for the Finals, and so the story’s not fully written yet.”

The Warriors are undefeated since Durant got injured, but everyone within the organization knows the team needs KD to win the NBA title against the Milwaukee Bucks or Toronto Raptors.

Durant is averaging 34.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists in the 2019 playoffs while shooting 51.3 percent from the field, 41.6 percent from beyond the arc and 90.1 percent from the free-throw line. The Warriors are hoping Durant, center DeMarcus Cousins and small forward Andre Iguodala will be ready to play in Game 1 of the Finals.
