Kevin Durant's decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder to win with the Golden State Warriors still remains controversial to this very day. A lot of fans think that joining a stacked squad to notch a Larry O'Brien trophy is unfair. They also posit that it should affect how legacies should be viewed. This is the distinguishing factor between Durant and other legends of the team like Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. But, since conversations about jersey retirement are once again surfacing, the current Phoenix Suns star unveiled his thoughts on how his legacy should be viewed in the Bay Area, via Marc J Spears of Andspace.
“Look at the résumé. That would warrant me to get a jersey retirement, right? Do I want to be honored by a franchise I put work in for? Of course, I would love that. I had some great moments there. I built some solid relationships there,” was the plea that Kevin Durant made when asked about the Warriors retiring his jersey.

He then added how this move was just more than winning rings, “I love that organization, man. I love my time there, seriously… I’ve played there without the fans and I played against them in an arena where they were the visiting team. But definitely, Bay Area fans are one of a kind. So, I know they’re going to show love, but I’m not expecting anything extra, to be honest.”
The Suns star is trying to notch more trophies with his current squad. But, his imprint on NBA history will always be synonymous with the move from the Thunder to the Warriors. Should his legacy be treated the same as Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green?
