Golden State Warriors sharpshooter Klay Thompson often goes as the forgotten man in the team's star-studded lineup. However, he took his brand worldwide this summer during a trip to China.

Following the Warriors' second championship in three years, Thompson was about as happy as one would expect, thus coining the term ‘China Klay.' He said he was surprised by how viral his new persona went during an appearance on teammate JaVale McGee's Parking Lot Chronicles:

“I was over there just having a good time,” Thompson said. “I didn't know it would go viral as it did. I forgot the internet was so worldwide, it is undefeated. But I think people saw another side of me that they don't really see on the court.”

His tour of the largest continent in the world has certainly raised his star power. The NBA's influence can be seen in almost every corner of the globe and history has shown the tremendous impact China can have on a player's notability. Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant was already one of the most highly-praised players in the U.S., but his annual trips to China made him an international icon as well.

Thompson has followed up on his championship year with another stellar start to the 2017-18 NBA season. Should he decide to make ‘China Klay' an offseason tradition, Thompson's brand may very well soon rival his teammates.
