Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry hasn't been shy the last few years talking about political and social issues happening around the world. With the shooting that happened at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School last week many people in a position of influence,  have spoken out on the issue.

Curry spoke up on the situation on Saturday night with CNN's Van Jones on “The Van Jones Show.” With Curry having a kid of his own, the shooting hit really close to home.

“Obviously as a parent, thinking about the world that you want your kids to grow up in and trying to protect them at all cost, that hits home. And you obviously feel for families that were affected,”

He went on to talk about how this is the tragedy that will finally get some change in the United States.

“I think there's a lot that's been said about change that needs to happen, and hopefully that conversation actually goes somewhere and we actually make an impact for the next generation to hopefully have a better world to live in,”

There has been a ton of tragedies the last few years, and although after everyone the general public keeps talking about how change needs to be made, there hasn't been enough change to happen.

Van Jones went on to ask about him Curry being a leader on the court, and he feels like politicians could learn a thing or two from him.

“As a leader, I value what each person is and what each person brings to the table. I think that's something that the White House could maybe change a little bit and kind of adopt. Everybody has a reason that they're here, has a value, has a worth … to celebrate … And I think that's important. That's what we do on our team and I think that's why we bonded and connected, and I think that's why we'll continue to grow.”

Stephen Curry is showing how much of a leader he can be off the court, and hopefully, this is the time that a big enough movement will happen and change will be done.
