It was just back in July that Washington State football coach Nick Rolovich remained adamant about not getting the Covid-19 vaccine.
“I'm not against vaccinations, and I wholeheartedly support those who choose to get vaccinated, including our players.”
This was said after the Washington State coach had said he would not be getting vaccinated and would follow the necessary protocols.
In August, Washington governor Jay Inslee announced a Covid-19 vaccine requirement for all workers at schools and colleges, including Rolovich.
Now, Washington State, per their school website, is taking even another step forward.
WSU Athletics, in alignment with our football partners in the State of Washington, the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Huskies, will require proof of vaccination for COVID-19 for fans 12 years of age and older, beginning with home contests at Gesa Field in the month of October. Those who are not vaccinated will need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event.
Additional details will be communicated at a later date. In the interim, effective immediately, WSU Athletics will mandate masks for all fans in attendance at Gesa Field, regardless of vaccination status. This will include both indoor and outdoor seating at all times, unless actively eating or drinking.
As noted, Washington State is now implementing a mask mandate for those attending games even if you are vaccinated and proof of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test will be required starting in October.
The pressure will keep dialing up on Rolovich and he will almost certainly be asked about these new guidelines.
