One of the biggest offseason stories involves the New England Patriots and Tom Brady. Brady is expected to test free agency and more rumors have him leaving for a team like the Las Vegas Raiders or somewhere else. Everyone seems to be talking about Brady leaving, but not many are talking about what the Patriots will do if that happens.

There are two quarterbacks who make the most sense for the Patriots if Brady leaves town, let's break it down.

Jameis Winston – Honorable Mention

Jameis Winston is a dynamic quarterback and can really sling the rock, but there is one big problem with him, he turns the ball over too much.

Bill Belichick would be driven nuts by Winston always turning the ball over, but if that is something he could work on, he would make a lot of sense. Expecting Winston to not turn the ball over might be asking too much though.

Marcus Mariota

Marcus Mariota was mostly a disappointment during his time with the Tennessee Titans, but maybe all he needs is a different system to turn around his career.

Many have forgotten just how good of player Mariota was during his college day with the Oregon Ducks. During his junior year, Mariota threw for 4,454 yards, 42 touchdowns, and only four interceptions. In 2016, Mariota threw for 3,246 yards and 26 touchdowns and if he could get back to that type of play with the Patriots, the offense really shouldn't even skip a beat.

With Mariota's inconsistency, he would be the more risky quarterback to bring in, but they could also probably save a few more bucks signing Mariota.

Teddy Bridgewater

The player who makes the most sense for the Patriots is Teddy Bridgewater, who could be the long-term option for many years in New England.

There were some concerns if Bridgewater could still be a starter after his knee injury, but he proved last season with the New Orleans Saints that he can. During five starts with the Saints in 2019, Bridgewater threw for 1,384 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions. Bridgewater has historically played better in domes and that is a bit of a concern going to New England, but he still would be a great replacement for Brady.

There is always the chance that the Patriots could decide to try and rebuild and go the draft route and if they wanted to. Jordan Love out of Utah State would make a lot of sense. If Brady does leave, the Patriots have plenty of options to bring in.
