Back in the 1990s, Will Purdue became part of the three-peat winning Chicago Bulls team from 1991-1993. He was the team's starting center and earned the trust of Phil Jackson, who was their coach then. Having been coached by the Zen Master, he knows him better than most players do and has a good understanding of his ways.

When asked how he motivates his players, the current studio analyst for Comcast SportsNet Chicago said Jackson is a master at using media to bring out the best in them and is not shy of speaking in public to get fired up.

This may be the case with him and Carmelo Anthony now as he has been having an ongoing feud with him and using the media as an outlet to send some strong messages to his franchise player.

However, with Purdue's comments, the New York faithful can see it as a strategy on Jackson's part rather than purely thinking that the two are not seeing eye to eye. Although it still remains a mystery if Anthony will continue his career with the Knicks, it also leaves a possibility that they can work things out for the better, and that the 10-time All-Star can even play at a higher level in the coming season.
