Many have speculated whether this go around at Wimbeldon would be the last in the storied career of Serena Williams. The crowd was packed in to watch either way, as her round one match took place Tuesday.

But it didn't last long as Serena Williams went down early with what appeared to be an ankle or leg injury. While she clearly wanted to continue, it just wasn't in the cards and Williams was forced to leave the match early, leaving Aliaksandra Sasnovich to advance.

The scene was tough to watch as Serena Williams became very emotional while recognizing and waving to the crowd afterwards.

It had been noted that Centre Court wasn't in tip top shape given the weather conditions. Others had slipped during their matches and that's what appeared to have happened to Williams.

The early exit for Serena Williams will leave many wondering if that's the last time she plays in what is perhaps her favorite tournament to play in. It's hard to imagine this is the way it ends for Williams at Wimbeldon and given her competitive nature, surely everyone will be hoping that she gives it another go next year.

For now, it's a round one exit via the injury and Williams and the fans were cut short of what was supposed to be an entertaining and joyous run through the tournament to see if she could yet again be the last one standing at Wimbeldon. Now, everyone will wait on pins and needles to see what Serena Williams says afterwards.
