The Washington Wizards have added a ton of youth and athleticism to upgrade their roster after a blockbuster trade on draft night that sent Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Kyle Kuzma, Montrezl Harrell, and the 22nd overall pick. With a ton of trade buzz surrounding Bradley Beal this offseason, the Wizards have added some quality depth and insurance to start preparing for their rebuild.

Even though Beal has come out and stated that he intends to play with the Wizards long-term and finish out his career in the nation's capital, nothing's guaranteed in this league. Having said all this, let's discuss the overall grades for the Washington Wizards' 2021 NBA offseason.

Grading the Wizards' Offseason

Wizards

Draft Grade: A

Aside from their draft night trade that allowed them to add quality depth and land the 22nd overall pick, the Wizards made two great selections at this year's NBA Draft. The addition of Corey Kispert will do wonders for them with his well-rounded offensive game, strong rebounding, and ability to play shooting guard or small forward. The Wizards were also lacking a reliable scorer outside of Beal, and Kispert checks off that box for them.

With the 31st overall pick, the Wizards selected athletic big Isaiah Todd who'll probably be a reserve or play in the G-League next season due to the Wizards already having a loaded frontcourt rotation. However, both of these picks will prove to be very beneficial for them in the future and allow them to stay competitive in the present.

Free Agency Grade: B

After trading away Russell Westbrook for a plethora of young and athletic players and an additional draft pick, the Wizards have re-tooled and provided franchise superstar Bradley Beal with more help. The only risk with this move is that they have acquired two players in Montrezl Harrell and Kyle Kuzma who just came off of down years where they did not live up to expectations.

Then again a change of scenery could do wonders for two players who are in need of a bounce back year. Plus with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope also coming to the Wizards in this deal, they'll be adding an NBA champion who's a proven scorer and lockdown perimeter defender. With the Wizards looking to get past the first round of the playoffs next season, these are all solid additions that can give them more scoring, athleticism, and rebounding that can come through huge for them all year long.

Overall Grade: B+

With Washington's active offseason, they've set themselves up nicely as a dark horse playoff threat next season and built themselves a deep and talented young roster that they can eventually develop into a title contender. Now that Bradley Beal has opted to stay in DC, the Wizards have done a good job surrounding him with the help he needs to lead them on a deep playoff run next season.

Hoping for a better outcome than last season, the Wizards definitely have their work cut out for them in the deep and talented Eastern Conference. In spite of all this, the Wizards have been very aggressive in upgrading their roster and have done a stellar job of this through their previous offseason activity.
