Washington Wizards point guard John Wall says athletes are just like everyone else. They have their normal work hours during the day, and then have the night to themselves after a hard day of service.

So Wall doesn't want to hear from people who say he parties too much because the All-Star says he's a grown man and allowed to do whatever he wants as long as he's working hard at his basketball craft.

“I ask them the same thing,” Wall said. “You got a 9-5, what you do after your 9-5? You not about to sit in the house all day are you? I'm a grown man and I can do what I want to. I know what I do and bring to the table, and that's 110 percent effort. I know how hard I work on my game and I'm going to enjoy my life. I'm not about to sit at home and be boring.”

Wall played in 41 games last season. He missed majority of the second-half of the year after undergoing knee surgery. The former No. 1 overall pick averaged 19.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 9.6 assists per game while shooting 42.0 percent from the field, 37.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 72.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The Wizards lost to the Toronto Raptors in the first-round of the 2018 playoffs in six games. Wall had a healthy offseason and took advantage of it. He worked out in Miami with LeBron James and Dwyane Wade's trainer and improved his 3-point shot as well. This is a big season for Wall and Washington, who have a chance to make some noise in the East now that James is in the Western Conference.

John Wall recruited Dwight Howard to the Wizards after Howard agreed to his buyout agreement with the Brooklyn Nets. Wall messaged Howard on Instagram telling the former All-NBA center to come to Washington and Howard was all in.
