A lot of critics believe Washington Wizards point guard John Wall is out of shape right now, but the All-Star guard vehemently disagrees with that notion.

Speaking to reporters Tuesday for the first time since reports came out he cursed at head coach Scott Brooks during a heated practice, Wall said he could be playing better and that he's not out of shape, via Fred Katz of The Athletic.

The Wizards are a walking disaster right now. They have the second-worst defense in the NBA, as the team is giving up 116.9 points per game. John Wall, Bradley Beal, Jeff Green and Austin Rivers recently got into a verbal altercation at practice. Kelly Oubre Jr. joined Wall and cursed at Brooks during a game last week. It's just all bad right now in the nation's capital.

Washington enters Tuesday with a record of 5-11. John Wall is averaging 20.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 7.9 assists per game on the season. The former No. 1 overall pick is shooting 45.1 percent from the field, 32.9 percent from beyond the arc and 68.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The five-time All-Star is one of the fastest players in the NBA, but he does look a step slow this season and was the butt of jokes in the offseason when an unflattering Team USA photo showed up on the internet. Wall's perimeter jump shot is still inconsistent, an aspect of his game he has never been able to master.

Wall's four-year, $170 million extension starts next season. The 28-year-old is going to make $37.8 million in 2019-19 and a whopping $40.8 million in 2020-21. His salary is only going to increase after that. Wall needs to play and lead his team better if he's going to be making that much money.
