Washington Wizards forward Markieff Morris entered Monday night’s preseason game against the New York Knicks at home with a plan: to intimidate opposing rookies and give them a taste of how tough life can be in the pros. But when Morris tried to talk junk at Knicks rookie Mitchell Robinson, his plan backfired.

Morris obviously tried to get under the skin of Robinson, but the only place he was going to after chirping at Robinson was the showers. Morris, probably underestimated the 20-year-old big man’s leash, as the rookie didn’t bite on his bait. Robinson simply smiled it off and waited for the referees to their job.

Markieff Morris played 12 minutes and didn’t score on 0-for-4 shooting from the field. He did have three rebounds and an assist before his ejection. Mitchell Robinson, on the other hand, made three of his four shots from the floor for six points and pulled down seven boards to go with a block in 16 minutes of action.

Robinson was selected by the Knicks in the second round of this year’s NBA Draft in hopes of using him to fortify their frontcourt. Robinson had an interesting journey to the NBA. Although he committed to play for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, Robinson decided to skip playing college ball.
