Washington Wizards owner Ted Leonsis wants All-Star point guard John Wall to take his time in his rehab.

Wall is recovering from heel and Achilles surgery. The five-time All-Star played in only 32 games in 2018-19.

Leonsis says if it takes Wall the entire 2019-20 season to rehab, he and the rest of the Wizards organization would be okay with it.

“John understands his commitment will show from this rehab,” Leonsis told NBC Sports Washington on the Wizards Talk podcast. “If it takes the whole season, we don't care. We are not putting pressure on you on a time.

“Make sure that you are rehabilitating in the right way so that when you do come back, you don't have that little voice in your head [saying] did I do everything the right way to be able to come back and be a great, great player?”

Wall averaged 20.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 8.7 assists in 2018-19. He shot 44.4 percent from the field, 30.2 percent from beyond the arc and 69.7 percent from the free-throw line. The supermax contract Wall signed with the Wizards kicks in next season.

When Wall is 100 percent healthy, he's one of the best point guards in the NBA. However, since Wall is coming off an Achilles tear — considered to be the toughest injury to come back from — some are wondering if the 28-year-old will be able to regain his speed and explosiveness.

It's really good to see Leonsis have Wall's back, though. Anytime the owner is supporting the franchise player publicly, the player himself can just focus on rehab and not worry about outside noise such as trade rumors.
