New Washington Wizards forward Sam Dekker is expected to join the team when they travel to Indiana on Monday, according to Candace Buckner of The Washington Post. Buckner writes:

Newly acquired player Sam Dekker will take his physical today. If all goes as planned — “on everybody’s side, not just our part of the trade,” said Scott Brooks — Dekker should join the team in Indiana.

Dekker only appeared in nine games for the Cavaliers before being traded to Washington in a three-way trade involving Milwaukee as well. Dekker has been out recently with an ankle injury, but he could become a rotational player once healthy.

Dekker was shooting the ball better from 3 than he has ever done in his career at 38.5 percent. But an ankle injury in early November has kept him out of action for more than a month.

Dekker is going from a bad situation in Cleveland to an equally dramatic but far more talented situation in Washington. The Wizards have scuffled early in the year, but they're climbing back into the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference.

That being said, there is still a distinct possibility that the team moves on from one of their big three — John Wall, Bradley Beal, or Otto Porter Jr. But if they don't wind up making a trade, they could sneak into the playoffs. If Dekker continues his hot shooting from 3-point range, he can definitely play a role on the Wizards going forward. But the situation is still fluid in Washington.
